Back to School and the end of term...

Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori...

Te Kinga students had a great week that included learning new games and skills while using Te Reo Māori...

This game is called Mauī - Matou (left-right). It is played with rākau and as we found out it is extremely physical, competitive and fun to play!

We also learnt the traditional Māori game Ki o Rahi  Whether you played the Taniwha or Ki Oma game - everyone had a great time!

We also made some new poi for our Kapa Haka Festival in November...

The completion our Paper Mache animal masks and Term 3...

We spent time adding extra layers over our features, then we began to paint, fur and texture.

After we completed the masks we created short plays with the animals as characters - then we displayed them on our wall. The goal was to make realistic paper mache animal masks - do you think we achieved it?

And finally...

On the last day of the term we tried out being special effects technicians (like the people who work in the movie industry). We got the idea from a school journal - a warning that the images are quite gruesome!
